Hi, I’m Josmine.

With a matriarchal lineage from Virginia and a patriarchal lineage from Louisiana, I was born and raised in occupied Ohlone territory, aka Oakland, CA.

Food became the medium through which I began, and continue, to explore my identity and the identities of my ancestors. That exploration has inspired my travels throughout the African Atlantic to gather and record diasporic food stories. Grateful for all my experiences and chances to learn, Indigo Culinary Co. is my offering and opportunity to share with my community.

In addition to my work with Indigo Culinary Co I am also 1/2 of the founding members and a land steward with theJOYproject in the North End of Detroit. More than a community garden but not exactly a farm, theJOYproject is a Living Archive of Afro-Atlantic Agriculture and Foodways

  • Book Collection

My book collection is one of my most valued possessions. When moving from Oakland to Detroit multiple boxes of my books came up missing and I had nothing but my memory to help me figure out which books had been lost. As a response I found a way to start creating a digital catalogue of my collection that I can now share with you. Take a look at the titles in my personal library.
